Overview
JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for providing technical, procedural support, design and solutions to enterprise systems and infrastructure specific to shipside operations and revenue generating business units across the fleet including responsibility for new build and existing Virtual Machine (VM) environments. Provide technical review of business needs related to application systems and provides support via specification, installation, testing and monitoring of the information systems and peripherals within corporate guidelines to deliver operational excellence.
Responsibilities
Install, customize, maintain and implement system software, program product software and VM environments for vessels and associated shoreside departments. Monitor performance and reliability of operating systems and program products to improve computer systems utilization for maximum return on corporate investment.
Perform daily activities to support these systems including but not limited to query analysis, report development, business analysis and first level troubleshooting. Install and configure daily application activities, data warehousing, database backups, interfaces and server builds. Server builds include Operating System and configuration.
Provide level-2 support for server hardware, Windows operating systems, SAN/NAS environments, systems management and virtualization systems. Partner with 3rd party vendor support organizations to document and resolve complex technical problems, and to schedule and implement recommended maintenance updates. Manage highly complex and high risk changes to critical production business systems.
Oversees diagnosis and problem determination activities, to resolve any technical problems that may occur. Participate in the formulation and administration of systems standards and procedures. Ensure that ship and related shoreside technical solutions are consistent within the overall corporate architectural direction.
Schedule, monitor and complete SOX-related audits, reports and other activities.
Implement enterprise solutions and associated hardware for new-builds and system upgrades including highly complex VM environments.
Participate in the research, planning and implementation of technical solutions that will meet present and future systems needs of related shoreside and shipside departments within the context of corporate needs and goals.
Manage special projects from design to implementation assisting in integration of technologies, and tracking of deliverables.
Perform other job-related duties as needed.
Qualifications DEGREE TYPE:
Bachelor's Degree
FIELD(S) OF STUDY:
Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration or related field
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum 4 years' experience in enterprise server support role, technical infrastructure, and software support or development.
Minimum 2 years' experience in virtual environment support, construction, and maintenance.
Experience with cruise industry related operations for shipside and shoreside and overall business application systems, preferred.
COMPETENCIES/SKILLS:
Technical knowledge of server hardware, internal components.
Windows server operating systems, virtual technologies and SAN/NAS technologies.
Extensive knowledge in troubleshooting hardware errors in order to identify potential solutions and assess them for both technical feasibility and business suitability.
Ability to independently handle project management, operations and applications design, network design, implementation and support, monitoring applications, documentation and production support.
Excellent written and verbal communications skills to work with internal business owners and vendors on system specifications, requirements and recommendations. Interpersonal skills to work effectively in a team-based environment.
Ability to be on call via email or phone to support shipside enterprise system issues.
Ability to travel on very short notice in order to resolve issues onboard.
Strongly preferred the ability to acquire and maintain a valid Transport Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card along with a Miami Seaport security access card.
Ability to travel to domestic and international locations on average 20-25% of time.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES:
VCP, MCSA, MCTS or MCSE preferred
