Overview
Make an Impact Where It Matters Most
Own the guardrails for mission-critical HPC. You will design and automate access controls, protect system resources, and align to Agency security policies. Your work keeps the right people in and the wrong paths out, so operators move fast and stay compliant.
Responsibilities
Implement RBAC and HBAC to secure Linux-based HPC resources
Build automation with Ansible, Bash, and Python to remove manual steps
Design, develop, test, deploy, and document software in Unix and Linux
Create and run test procedures. Track results and verify fixes
Integrate new code into existing environments. Monitor installs and performance
Analyze user needs and turn them into clear designs and performance targets
Write clean technical docs, wikis, and runbooks in Confluence
Keep tickets current in Jira. Use Git for version control
Support CI and CD with GitLab CI and Jenkins
Develop simple data queries and validate results against requirements
Minimum Qualifications
Clearance:
Top Secret Clearance with Full Scope Polygraph, must be active. We do not sponsor clearances.
Citizenship:
Must be a U.S. citizen; we cannot sponsor visas.
Experience and Education, SWE 2:
Master’s in Computer Science or related field with 3 years as a Software Engineer, or
Bachelor’s in Computer Science or related field with 5 years as a Software Engineer, or
7 years as a Software Engineer on work of similar scope, type, and complexity
Required Skills
Linux CLI and core Linux tools
Bash and Python scripting for automation
Basic Linux administration, user and group management
Access controls and permissions in Linux, RBAC and HBAC
Python software development in a Linux environment
Ansible playbooks for provisioning HPC hardware and software
CI and CD concepts and tooling, GitLab CI and Jenkins
Git for source control
Agile development practices
Write or review software and system documentation
Debug code, resolve defects, and improve performance
Integrate COTS and GOTS software across mixed OS environments
Web services and REST fundamentals
Unix shell scripting, configuration management discipline
Desired Qualifications
Containerization, Docker, Podman, containerd
IAM tools, Keycloak, FreeIPA, SSSD, LDAP, Kerberos
Atlassian Suite, Jira and Confluence
Familiar with Scrum or SAFe
Experience with databases, relational and non-relational
Orchestration frameworks, Spring and Kafka, and queue concepts
Experience with data driven or event driven analytics
Comfort recommending process and tooling improvements and leading small efforts
Compensation and Benefits Compensation Range: $155,000.00 - $205,000.00
The salary range provided reflects an estimate based on current market trends and may be adjusted based on factors such as the candidate's experience, skills, and qualifications. The final offer will be tailored after a thorough evaluation of the candidate’s background and suitability for the role. This range is intended as a guideline and is subject to flexibility.
