Inventory Accounting Manager
to join a newly developing accounting team within a growing medical device company. This role will play a key part in establishing inventory accounting processes, ensuring compliance with US GAAP, and leading a small team through a period of significant organizational change. The ideal candidate is adaptable, detail-oriented, and able to thrive in a dynamic environment while collaborating cross-functionally with operations, supply chain, and finance teams. Key Responsibilities: Oversee monthly inventory accounting close activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and reporting of inventory and COGS Manage inventory sub-ledger to general ledger reconciliation, resolving discrepancies promptly Collaborate with operations and supply chain to ensure accurate product costing, valuation, and standard cost updates Lead and implement inventory management strategies to optimize inventory levels and reduce costs Direct the annual physical inventory and cycle count processes to ensure compliance with internal controls Support audits by preparing schedules and responding to requests in a timely manner Analyze inventory data, identify trends, and develop actionable insights for leadership Drive process improvements to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and compliance Manage and mentor two accountants on the team Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA) Experience:
5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with strong US GAAP knowledge 3+ years of inventory or cost accounting 2+ years in a leadership or management role
Technical Skills:
ERP experience (JD Edwards; SAP, NetSuite, or Oracle a plus) Proficient in Excel and comfortable with large data sets
Soft Skills:
Adaptable, easy-going, and able to lead in a dynamic environment Nice to Have:
Experience in medical device, life sciences, or a regulated industry Familiarity with SOX and FDA compliance
