ELECTRICITY: Adjunct / Substitute Instructor POOL (college credit) – San Diego Community College District

Notes: At the time of assignment, official transcripts and/or foreign degree evaluations may affect salary placement. Initial placement will be at the first class/step until transcripts are submitted. Exempt from FLSA (does not accrue overtime). This is an adjunct position in the AFT/College Faculty bargaining unit.
Major Responsibilities
Primary duties: related to curriculum and teaching; the assignment includes both lecture and lab classes as determined by the department. Adjunct instructional faculty are required to be available to students outside of class.
Provide instruction in accordance with established curriculum and course outlines.
Maintain appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics.
Maintain current knowledge in the subject matter areas.
Fulfill professional responsibilities of a part-time/temporary faculty member.
Teach all scheduled classes.
Maintain accurate records.
Provide quality instruction and foster an environment that emphasizes teaching and learning and encourages free discussion of ideas and issues.
Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Any Bachelor's degree AND two (2) years of professional experience directly related to the area of assignment; OR
Any Associate degree AND six (6) years of professional experience directly related to the area of assignment; OR
The equivalent; and demonstrated cultural competency, sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds of community college students and staff.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Equivalency: If you do not possess the exact degrees listed, or anticipate receiving the required degree prior to teaching, complete a Request for Equivalency Form and attach it during the application process. Foreign Degree: if your degree is from a institution outside the United States, have coursework evaluated by a professional association that is a member of NACES or AICE. A copy of the evaluation must be submitted with the online application. Licenses/Certificates: California Community College Instructor Credential in Electricity (valid for life).
