Overview
Our client is a successful museum in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, seeking a seasoned Controller to join their team. The Controller is responsible for the financial management and oversight of all accounting operations, including general ledger management, financial reporting, budgeting, audits, and compliance. The Controller also leads staff and collaborates across departments. Responsibilities
Oversee daily accounting functions, including payroll, accounts payable/receivable, and cash management Prepare timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements Maintain strong internal controls and complete account reconciliations Ensure accurate general ledger maintenance and reporting Lead annual budgeting process with leadership and department heads Monitor financial performance and provide variance analysis and forecasting Support long-term financial planning and modeling Track restricted and unrestricted funds and ensure grant compliance Manage financial reporting for government and private grantors Coordinate annual financial audits and IRS Form 990 preparation Ensure compliance with GAAP, nonprofit accounting standards, and legal requirements Supervise and mentor accounting staff; provide financial insights to support operations, programs, and fundraising Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field 5+ years of progressive accounting experience (2+ years in a supervisory role) Strong understanding of nonprofit and fund accounting Proficient in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Blackbaud) and advanced Excel Must be willing to work onsite 5X a week Employment details
