Overview Are you a seasoned accounting professional with financial institution experience and ready to make an impact in a leadership role? HPCU is looking for an Assistant Vice President of Financial Accounting to lead the accounting function and oversee financial reporting and controls in a dynamic and growing credit union.

This is a role for someone who already works in accounting within a credit union or bank and someone who knows financial institution accounting inside and out and is looking to bring that expertise to a new organization.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Vice President/CAO, the AVP will bring a strong financial background and demonstrate the ability to interpret financial results, assess risk and support budgeting.

This role plays a key part in financial strategy, analysis, and long-term planning by identifying data trends and foreseeing future changes within financial services while assisting with budgeting and forecasting.

This individual will serve as a backup for key compliance and fraud monitoring, ensure compliance with GAAP, GAAS, NCUA regulations and NACHA rules.

Qualifications

A minimum of five years of similar or related experience in accounting and operation is required, with a bachelor’s degree in accounting is a plus.

Exceptional Microsoft Excel expertise is needed to support the credit union’s internal applications.

About Houston Police Credit Union Founded in 1937 by a dedicated group of Houston police officers during the Great Depression, Houston Police Credit Union (HPCU) began as a small, member-owned cooperative with a mission to provide affordable financial services to the Houston Police Department and their families. Starting with just 14 charter members and a $25 loan limit, HPCU has grown into a trusted financial partner for over 31,000 members, including active and retired HPD officers, civilian employees, and their families.

For decades, we’ve proudly served as the financial backbone of the Houston Police Department. But as our community’s needs evolved, so did we.
