Are you a seasoned accounting professional with financial institution experience and ready to make an impact in a leadership role? HPCU is looking for an Assistant Vice President of Financial Accounting to lead the accounting function and oversee financial reporting and controls in a dynamic and growing credit union. This role participates in financial strategy, analysis, and long-term planning by identifying data trends and forecasting changes within financial services, while assisting with budgeting and forecasting. The individual will serve as a backup for key compliance and fraud monitoring, and ensure compliance with GAAP, GAAS, NCUA regulations and NACHA rules. Founded in 1937 by a dedicated group of Houston police officers during the Great Depression, Houston Police Credit Union (HPCU) began as a small, member-owned cooperative with a mission to provide affordable financial services to the Houston Police Department and their families. Starting with just 14 charter members and a $25 loan limit, HPCU has grown into a trusted financial partner for over 31,000 members, including active and retired HPD officers, civilian employees, and their families. For decades, we’ve served as the financial backbone of the Houston Police Department. In late 2024, we expanded our charter to include law enforcement professionals across the Houston Metropolitan Statistical Area, reaffirming our commitment to supporting those who serve and protect our communities. We’ve introduced many digital services to make banking more convenient and accessible for our members, including but not limited to online account opening, mobile banking app, Zelle, remote deposit capture, a new digital department, and other modern technologies.
