DIRECTOR, RISK MANAGEMENT (GENERAL LIABILITY CLAIMS ADMINISTRATION) at Los Angeles Metro. This role directs and manages the performance of risk management functions including General Liability Claims Administration, investigations, and risk financing. Base pay range : $127,046.40/yr - $190,528.00/yr Responsibilities
Direct and manage a function within Risk Management (General Liability Claims Administration, Workers' Compensation Claims Administration, Investigations, and Risk Financing). Oversee operational audits in the assigned area and establish department policies, procedures, and guidelines. Develop and deliver quality projects from inception to close-out, on time and within scope and budget. Partner with other departments to administer programs and achieve agency goals. Investigate, adjust, and settle claims in collaboration with affected Division staff and Counsel. Analyze trends and develop programs to reduce costly claims. Represent Metro before regulatory agencies; provide briefings to the Board of Directors and Executive Staff. Coordinate meetings and participate in internal decision-making groups. Develop, monitor, and adhere to the department budget and schedules in line with agency fiscal responsibility. Negotiate contracts, serve as contract manager, and monitor contractor performance, including achieving DBE/SBE goals. Supervise, coach, and develop assigned staff; implement staff development programs. Communicate and implement safety rules, policies, and procedures; maintain accountability for safety performance. Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or a related field Experience
Five years of relevant management-level experience overseeing one or more risk management functions such as workers’ compensation administration, risk financing, actuarial analysis, and/or investigations; some positions may require specialized experience in the area of assignment Certifications/Licenses/Special Requirements
A valid California Class C Driver License or ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed Preferred Qualifications
Experience managing a large general liability program for a public entity Experience managing claims staff, including oversight of TPA claims services and performance Experience managing litigation, including oversight of an extensive defense panel Experience managing highly sensitive cases requiring reporting to CEO and elected officials Experience reporting to and working with excess liability carriers Essential Knowledge
