Job Description
Bowditch seeks an experienced Paralegal for its Domestic Relations & Probate Litigation practice. The Paralegal assists and supports the attorneys in the practice in all phases of litigation from inception through discovery and trial. This position may be based in either our Boston or MetroWest office location but the individual must be able to work out of our Boston location two days per week. The role offers a hybrid schedule of 4 in-office days and 1 remote day per week and is a full-time, 40 hour per week position.
Responsibilities
Drafting of pleadings, motions, subpoenas, and correspondence
Managing service of process
Managing of documents on internal systems
Working directly with clients to compile documents and draft financial statements and discovery responses
Preparing alimony calculations and child support guidelines worksheets
Preparing asset division spreadsheets
Managing all aspects of discovery
Assisting in all aspects of trial preparation, including preparing trial binders
Meeting, assisting, and corresponding with clients
Conducting research on factual topics related to cases
Working directly with attorneys in docketing court dates and deadlines
Communicating with subpoena recipients, experts, GALs, ARC counsel, opposing counsel and parties, DCF, and the Courts
Other related duties as required
Qualifications
Minimum of five (5) years of Paralegal experience in a domestic relations and/or probate litigation practice
Preference for an individual with domestic relations and/or probate litigation experience in both Massachusetts and Rhode Island jurisdictions
Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Attention to detail and strong proof-reading skills
Time management and multitasking abilities
Strong research and writing abilities
Ability to use Microsoft Office and/or learn new computer programs and Apps for virtual meetings
A professional attitude and approach to client service are essential
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Must be able to perform duties with minimal supervision and also work as part of a larger team
Education:
High School Diploma or Equivalent required
Associate Degree or higher preferred
Paralegal Certification preferred
