Duties & Responsibilities
Provide jobsite construction and technical leadership for large projects Maintain working knowledge of critical infrastructure equipment in data centers, including Vertiv-manufactured equipment Lead a multi-disciplinary on-site team (Project Leaders, Installers, Technicians, Customer Engineers, subcontractors) Represent Vertiv at daily customer meetings and communicate technical requirements to coordinate on-site activity Lead and support start-up and site testing activities Ensure sufficient manpower on-site for start-up and testing; provide daily status reports to Service Management, Project Management, and sales representatives Technical & Safety Responsibilities
Stay current on Vertiv equipment start-up/commissioning processes, procedures, and tools Stay current on Safety Bulletins, Field Change Notices, and Service Tips Lead daily toolbox talks, pre-job safety walks, and implement corrective/preventative actions promptly Adhere to all Vertiv safety policies on job sites and wear required PPE Operate safely according to published guidelines and the 14-hour work rule Report all work-related accidents or injuries within 24 hours Demonstrate safety leadership and stop-work authority when needed Administrative & Customer Satisfaction
Ensure adherence to Vertiv warranty processes with the Project Manager Provide accurate, timely reporting (timecards, expense reports, mileage, SR/task closures, etc.) Support Project Manager with technical data for project systems Maintain company property (PPE, equipment, laptops, smartphones, etc.) Communicate effectively with internal and external customers; align daily activities with customer expectations Maintain customer satisfaction according to company guidelines Personal Performance & Qualifications
Decide based on Safety, Quality, Timeliness, Cost, Productivity Make timely technical and commercial decisions under pressure Maintain productive utilization and comply with dress code and safety regulations Understand startup/escalation processes; lead by example per Vertiv Behaviors Communicate effectively at all organizational levels Handle stressful situations calmly with diplomacy Qualifications
Experience (one or more): ASEET or ASMET preferred; equivalent industry experience in start-up/commissioning of power and/or HVAC equipment; six years military experience in a related field; minimum 2 years in industrial construction management Interpersonal Skills: Vertiv Behavior practitioner; strong organizational, verbal and written communication; ability to build trusting customer relationships; collaborative in high-stress environments; executive presence Technical: ability to read electrical one-line diagrams and blueprints; lead and direct on-site technical activities; COHE and site acceptance testing expertise Computer skills: word processing, reporting, spreadsheets, e-mail; familiarity with test equipment and data analysis; familiarity with computer networks Mechanical aptitude Working & Physical Conditions
Projects typically range from 4 weeks to 12+ months Travel may involve field rotations (3 weeks on-site, 1 week at home office) with at least 40 billable hours during off-site periods Industrial new construction or retrofit environments; flexible schedules including weekends, evenings, and holidays Valid driver’s license; deployable for emergencies Notes
