Assistant Store Manager

The Buckle, Inc. The Assistant in Training (AIT) and Assistant Manager position’s primary responsibility is to fulfill our mission statement, “to create the most enjoyable shopping experience possible for our Guests.” AIT and Assistant Managers perform a variety of sales, merchandising and operational tasks assigned by store management (e.g. cashiering, merchandise display and pulls, register procedures, and routine cleaning of facilities). Work directly with the Store Manager and Leadership Team to develop sales, recruit new Teammates and provide leadership. The AIT and Assistant Manager will also share responsibility for training and motivating Teammates and act as the Store Manager in their absence. The Assistant Manager Position is a progression from the AIT position and therefore includes additional high level duties that are specific to that position, though the majority of job duties and responsibilities are shared. Greet Guests with a friendly, engaging attitude, and provide legendary service to each Guest Answer questions regarding the store and its merchandise Recommend, select, and help locate or obtain merchandise based on Guest needs and desires Anticipate and fulfill Guest’s needs by suggesting additional items and creating a wardrobing experience Demonstrate product knowledge and sales education, sharing that knowledge with the Team Maintain and share knowledge of current sales and promotions, policies regarding payment and exchanges, and security practices Remain consistent on personal sales and support Team in presentations Achieve personal sales-per-hour, average sales and total net sales goals set by Store Management Provide legendary service throughout the store in Front 5, sales floor, fitting rooms, and the register area Know exchange and return procedures and present opportunities for guest engagement Use the Sales Presentation Guide (SPG) to accomplish goals Meet or exceed performance standards in Buckle business builders and guest loyalty programs Support inventory searches and product discovery tools to expand Guest selection Build and maintain guest relationships to develop a client-based business Lead by example with showmanship and high customer service standards Communicate Guest Levels to the Team Ask business-driven questions to managers, team leaders and teammates Be coachable and accept feedback to improve sales presentations Demonstrate leadership consistently, with or without the Manager present Plan sales goals with Store Manager Own the store’s sales performance and drive denim expertise Show passion for product education and showmanship Teammate Recruiting, Training and Development
Recognize recruiting opportunities via Jobs & Careers cards, referrals Coach and develop relationships through Guest Loyalty and Guest Preferred Develop skills and lead, motivate and educate new Teammates to meet standards Maintain a positive floor culture and professional dress code Participate in daily training and performance tracking Motivate Teammates to complete daily tasks Demonstrate denim showmanship and fit card results through Teammates and Guests Execute department calendars and track via Weekly Delegation Worksheet Demonstrate leadership during segments and involve Guests with product Update leadership and Team on progress Remember Guest names and leverage product knowledge to benefit Team and Guests Partner with Store Manager to focus education and delegate tasks Assist Store Manager in recruitment of staffing and explain pay and Buckle Benefits Maintain up-to-date contact lists for top talent Train and coach non-sales positions and adapt to changing sales focuses Visual Merchandise Management
Own and influence product through zone ownership and daily task assignments Execute new tools and videos related to zone ownership Delegate and review all zones with Store Manager Ensure adherence to Visual Standards and checklists Identify merchandising opportunities and communicate recommendations Provide store tours and maintain appropriate backroom display Implement changes to improve store performance via Performance Tracker Anticipate changes in product and act to improve visuals Maintain visual standards on floor and backroom Operations
Work a flexible schedule including weekends and holiday shifts as needed Understand and utilize planning tools and opening/closing checklists Monitor security risks and follow Loss Prevention guidelines Handle POS procedures and corporate communications professionally Maintain a positive attitude with Guests and Teammates Follow policies for payments, returns, exchanges and Loss Prevention Navigate tools on the home page and guide non-sales positions Complete shifts and maintain a clean, shoppable store Provide feedback on merchandise handling concerns Report policy violations or concerns confidentially Adhere to Buckle Code of Ethics and company policies Complete new hire paperwork per HR guidelines Plan and execute markdowns, pulls, freight, recalls, and RTVs Maintain relationships with Corporate Office departments for store operations Monitor inventory of supplies and respond to emergencies in the manager’s absence Supervisory and Leadership
Provide and receive constructive feedback Support Leadership and promote store growth Maintain professional relationships with Teammates Conduct daily interviews as needed for team development Overcome objections and solve problems Self-educate on company tools and share with others Administer Buckle Commitment to Success Ability to travel and cover other stores within District Manage schedule changes professionally Fulfill mission while upholding high customer service and team spirit Handle special projects and other duties as assigned Education And/or Experience
