Overview Information Technology Architect position with the Rehabilitation & Correction - Operation Support Center. Location: Columbus, OH. Primary responsibility is to design and govern enterprise architecture for software/solutions, ensuring alignment with enterprise guidelines, security, reliability, and observability while guiding development teams.

Responsibilities

Apply extensive technical knowledge of enterprise operations to develop and update the agency's strategic IT plan and perform solutions design for discipline/program teams.

Create, edit, and recommend IT artifacts (policies, procedures, standards, guidelines, best practices, position papers) and document overall system architecture, including data flows, integration points, and component dependencies.

Lead complex initiatives for organizational improvement in software development and provide architecture white papers and design documents for new or significantly updated application projects; lead application architecture reviews.

Ensure designs align with Enterprise Architecture guidelines and industry best practices, facilitating appropriate trade-offs, while considering security, redundancy, service continuity, disaster recovery, data integrity, monitoring, and DevOps needs.

Develop product-level architecture in line with architectural principles, applying industry best practices and design patterns to create scalable, secure solutions with strong technical performance.

Collaborate with data stewards, data owners, security, network, and application development teams to promote data governance best practices.

Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices related to solution architecture, data management, and observability; provide forward-looking risk and opportunity analysis to ITS Leadership.

Provide technical leadership and mentorship to development teams, ensuring adherence to architectural guidelines and standards.

Map technical integration points and patterns between systems; identify and build proofs-of-concept for future directions; develop scalable architecture to support sustainable growth.

Qualifications Education: Core undergraduate program in Computer Science or Information Systems or equivalent work experience.

Experience: Minimum 4 years combined work experience in related areas (e.g., assisting with development and updates to the IT plan, participating in work groups to author IT plans by discipline/program, leading project tasks/meetings). Includes 2 years of technology-related work experience as specified by the agency position description.
