Overview
Clinical Social Worker III (LCSW/LMFT/LPCC) for the Citywide Case Management (CASC) Team in partnership with the San Francisco Adult Probation Department (SFAPD). Service area includes a caseload of approximately 25 individuals identified by SFAPD as needing mental health services. Clients are re-entering the community after substantial and/or repeated incarceration. The clinician provides comprehensive assessment, individual and group psychotherapy, crisis management, and linkages to ongoing behavioral health care as needed. The CSW III leads special projects (e.g., collaborative court liaison, trainings, supervising interns) and independently manages referrals and waitlists. The goal is to treat high-risk clients, promote safe and sustained re-entry, and reduce recidivism. The final salary and offer components are subject to UC policy approvals.
Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive assessments and provide individual and group psychotherapy to adults with serious mental illness and complex needs.
Perform crisis management and ensure timely linkage to ongoing behavioral health care within SFAPD’s Community Assessment and Service Center (CASC).
Manage referrals and waitlists independently; serve as lead clinician on special projects (e.g., court liaison, trainings, staff/intern supervision).
Collaborate with SFAPD and community partners to support high-risk clients in the re-entry process and reduce recidivism.
Operate in and contribute to a culturally diverse team environment; maintain clear documentation and timeframes for reporting.
Required Qualifications
Current California State License as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC).
Minimum of two years working with individuals with severe mental illness, dual diagnoses, or justice-involved populations.
Ability to work cooperatively, communicate effectively, and perform well under pressure in a high-stress, high-volume setting; detail-oriented with strong written documentation skills; knowledge of medical/psychiatric terminology.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work as part of a diverse team.
Physical ability to lift 50 lbs and climb stairs.
Demonstrated reliable attendance and accountability.
Understanding of mental health issues and sensitivity toward mental health clients; ability to work with diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Ability to obtain San Francisco County Jail Clearance through the San Francisco Sheriff’s Department.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with severely mentally ill adults, the homeless, and dual-diagnosed populations, gained through study, internships, or related work.
Prior UC experience.
Ability to provide mental health services in Spanish.
License/Certification
Current California State License as an LCSW, LMFT, or LPCC.
