LHH is seeking a Temporary Attorney to join their nonprofit environmental client’s legal team. This full-time role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to high-impact legal advocacy while being considered for a permanent Senior Attorney position. Job Responsibilities

Support legal strategy development and advocacy efforts across environmental law initiatives. Conduct in-depth legal and factual research, draft memos, and prepare briefs and comments. Collaborate with attorneys, staff, and community partners to evaluate legal challenges. Participate in agency meetings and administrative hearings as needed. Contribute to litigation and policy work that protects public health and the environment. Requirements

A licensed attorney with 6–8 years of post-graduate legal experience. Barred in at least one of the following states: Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Ohio, or Wisconsin. Skilled in legal writing, research, and working with technical experts. Committed to equity and inclusion, with experience partnering with grassroots organizations. What We Offer

Full-time contract (37.5 hours/week) starting ASAP, lasting 6+ months with potential for extension. Hybrid work option from Chicago, IL office or remote work if barred in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Ohio, or Wisconsin. Competitive hourly pay based on location and experience ranging from $75-88/hour Opportunity to apply for the permanent Senior Attorney role during the contract period, giving you a strong advantage in the hiring process.
