Overview
FirstWave is hiring a Junior Trader / Trading Associate to partner with our Head of Trading. You will split time between live execution support and building the tooling that improves our speed, precision, and risk control (TCA, analytics, routing logic, dashboards, catalyst calendar, etc). This is a hands-on seat for a detail-obsessed, Python-capable teammate who wants to grow into a senior trader. Location
This is a full-time, onsite position in Miami, FL with no hybrid and no remote. Responsibilities
Execution & Desk Ops Stage and execute equity orders with best-ex discipline; manage allocations and confirms. Monitor liquidity, halts, borrow/locates, earnings and event risk; maintain process checklists. Assist with pair/hedge legs (index ETFs, single-stock shorts, options frameworks). Analytics & Automation
Build pre-/post-trade TCA (slippage, venue/algos, impact); publish daily/weekly reports. Develop factor exposure/beta trackers, stress and scenario views, and P&L dashboards. Create pipelines for earnings/8-Ks/calendar, symbol watchlists, alerts, and compliance logs. Process & Quality
Own data cleanliness and reconciliation across OMS/EMS/Bloomberg/Excel. Codify playbooks (opens/closes, events, broken trades) and strengthen control checks. Growth
Progress to independent execution; contribute to routing and hedging playbooks. Required Experience
2–5 years in trading, execution support, market operations, or data/analytics at a hedge fund, prop firm, or broker. Python (pandas/NumPy), SQL, and advanced Excel; able to ship clean, tested tools for the desk. Strong understanding of equity market microstructure; comfort with broker algos/venues. Familiarity with Bloomberg and common EMS/OMS workflows. Clear communicator under time pressure; meticulous attention to detail. Preferred Experience
Options basics (delta, gamma, spreads), corporate actions knowledge, or VBA. Experience with lightweight APIs and dash-boarding. Why FirstWave
