The Senior Operations Specialist is responsible for managing the daily execution of customer truckload shipments within the brokerage operations team. This role is primarily customer-facing and serves as the operational point of contact for assigned accounts. The senior specialist ensures timely, accurate communication with customers, oversees shipment lifecycle tasks, and supports service performance by collaborating with internal carrier operations teams. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Serve as the main operational contact for customers on active shipments Coordinate and manage the full shipment lifecycle, including load entry, scheduling, tracking, and delivery confirmation Monitor shipment progress and proactively communicate updates, issues, and exceptions to customers Collaborate with internal carrier sales and tracking teams to ensure service expectations are met Update shipment details and notes in the transportation management system (TMS) in real time Respond promptly to customer inquiries and resolve issues related to transit delays, documentation, or accessorials Collaborate with tracking and carrier sales to ensure proper documentation is maintained for each load, including BOLs, rate confirmations, PODs, and receipts Maintain operational compliance with customer-specific requirements and standard operating procedures (SOPs), and make updates as necessary to improve internal processes Manage post-delivery activities such as discrepancy resolution, accessorial validation, and claim coordination Participate in customer performance reporting and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field, or equivalent professional experience Minimum of 3 years of experience in truckload brokerage, 3PL operations, or customer service in a logistics environment Proficiency in using transportation management systems (e.g., McLeod, MercuryGate, or equivalent) Strong understanding of truckload logistics processes and freight documentation Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a time-sensitive environment Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Suite and G-Suite Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting enterprise-level customer accounts or high-volume freight Knowledge of EDI/API freight tracking platforms (e.g., Project44, FourKites) Familiarity with appointment scheduling systems and retail/compliance-driven shipping environments Working Conditions
This role is primarily sedentary and performed in an office environment May require extended hours or after-hours availability depending on customer or shipment needs Occasional travel may be required for customer visits or team meetings (if applicable) Seniority level
