SENIOR PROGRAM SPECIALIST (EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION) (AT-WILL)

Overview
The City of Torrance is recruiting for Senior Program Specialist (Early Childhood Education) to join the Community Services Team. This is a recurrent, part-time, non-civil service, as-needed position in the Early Childhood Education (ECE) Program. The Department focuses on providing opportunities in Cultural Arts, Library, Parks and Recreation to residents, with a commitment to diversity, inclusion, and high-quality service. Responsibilities
Plan, organize, and direct major special events, programs, and facilities within the Community Services Department. Oversee all aspects of the ECE initiatives, including curriculum development, program planning, staffing, and addressing challenges related to curriculum, staffing, or student behavior. Manage schedules, budgets, and resources for the day-to-day operation of the early childhood education program. Lead and supervise staff, delegate tasks, and foster a positive and supportive work environment. Deliver excellent customer service and effective communication with staff, parents, and children. Qualifications
Strong leadership abilities and project management skills. Excellent verbal and written communication Ability to use computers and Microsoft Office; capacity to learn program-specific software. Education and Experience
Any combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge and skills is qualifying. A typical path includes graduation from high school or equivalent and two years of increasingly responsible part-time experience at the level of a Program Specialist. A BA/BS in Recreation, Cultural Studies, or a related field is desirable. Licenses and Certifications
Negative tuberculin test. Some positions may require: A valid California Class C Driver's License Certification in Red Cross or American Heart Association CPR (desirable) Additional Information
Education in early childhood education or related field is desired; prior early childhood education experience is preferred.
