As a member of the IT Management Team, you are responsible for managing, developing, and leading a team of employees. You will oversee team performance, deliverables, and the development and execution of your team’s strategic vision to align with the larger goals of the company and the IT Division. The
Manager of IT Product Management
will lead Technology Product Management Leaders who define business problems that require technology solutions and guide development teams through delivery. The candidate will help realize business benefits, translate requirements into valuable business solutions and technology systems, and work with business users and cross-program teams through all stages of the technology delivery lifecycle (discovery, design, construction, transition, and implementation). Role requires strong customer service, communication, productivity, professionalism, leadership, self-motivation, analytical skills, and Costco business (or retail) expertise. Role
INTEGRITY: Lead by example; handle employee concerns ethically and resolve them; follow the Code of Ethics and Standards of Ethics for Managers and Supervisors. MEMBER SERVICE: Ensure staff delivers an exceptional member experience. ADMINISTRATION: Ensure department coverage, manage scheduling, understand the department budget, and explain budget variances. MANAGING PERFORMANCE: Coach employees, discuss performance and career development, identify learning opportunities. COMMUNICATION: Share information via meetings and one-on-one conversations; navigate difficult conversations; demonstrate business knowledge with senior management. SELF-MANAGEMENT: Demonstrate sound judgment and maintain composure in challenging situations. INCLUSION: Encourage diverse approaches, seek input, and identify potential candidates who may not self-nominate. COMPLIANCE AND SAFETY: Protect confidential information and adhere to IS security policy. TRAINING & COACHING: Provide training, encouragement, coaching, and feedback; observe performance and ensure standards are met; conduct yearly performance reviews. RECRUITING: Review applicants, conduct interviews, and make hiring recommendations. TEAM LEADERSHIP: Build, lead, and inspire a team of technology product management professionals; hire strategically, mentor, and manage performance. COLLABORATION & DELIVERY: Foster a collaborative environment; deliver technology solutions that align with program goals and Costco Travel/Costco Wholesale. RELATIONSHIPS: Develop trusted relationships with business stakeholders and technical leaders; drive efficiencies in delivering solutions. BUDGETING: Manage budgeting for software, hardware, and training needs. STRATEGY: Participate in developing long-term technology strategies; negotiate contracts with vendors as needed. OBSTACLE REMOVAL: Proactively remove obstacles that slow programs; lead critical initiatives with agile leadership. PROCESS IMPROVEMENT: Seek and implement process improvements for labor and cost savings. WORK HOURS: This is a full-time management/leadership position (45+ hours per week).
Required
3+ years supervisory experience in IT and ability to direct technical work teams. 5+ years in information technology, including leading teams in systems analysis or software engineering. 3+ years leadership experience in agile software development. 5+ years’ experience planning, organizing, and directing software development projects. Proficiency in mentoring teams in methodologies, standards, and procedures that contribute to success. Ability to mentor experts in requirements elicitation, authoring, and software delivery in an agile environment. Ability to align with individuals across departments with diverse opinions. Strong organizational skills; ability to multitask and respond quickly to critical issues. Excellent analytical, written and verbal communication skills; ability to engage with all levels of the organization. Ability to convey complex information clearly and compellingly; lead by example and build loyalty and commitment. Understanding of technologies and products to bring travel solutions to market at scale. Strong collaboration skills in cross-functional, matrix environments. HIPAA Training and Supervisors Orientation (within 30 days of hire); Leadership Development 101 (within one year); Costco Pay Policies (within 90 days of promotion).
Recommended
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or engineering, or equivalent training and experience. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; hands-on, detail-oriented. Ability to establish credibility with technical and non-technical team members. Ability to collaborate with infrastructure, software engineering, and design teams. Experience implementing large-scale, enterprise-level initiatives. Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams).
