This work spans fundamental and applied exploration to create solutions that support sustainable air travel, beyond-atmosphere travel, and national security needs. Job Description As a Research Scientist, you will design, experiment, analyze, improve, and apply new AI / CV technology. You will move concepts from fundamentals (theoretical and empirical) to prototypes and new solutions that can impact design, manufacturing, testing, operation, reliability, and maintenance. You will develop algorithms and systems for use across GE Aerospace projects and collaborate with researchers across disciplines and with external partners in academia and government. You will contribute to advancing AI / CV research and share findings with the broader scientific community. Essential Responsibilities Work with researchers on new and continuing projects Develop software solutions applying Artificial Intelligence to aerospace programs, impacting GE Aerospace products, internal tools, and practices Implement and analyze prototypes and solutions for real-world problems Use software libraries, tools, and practices to build efficient, scalable, and reusable solutions Collaborate with GE Aerospace AI / CV experts to advance new technologies Publish novel findings in scientific workshops, conferences, and journals Create intellectual property by writing invention disclosures and filing patents Develop technical and leadership skills in preparation for future Lead Scientist roles Qualifications/Requirements MS + 4 years experience or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or related fields with a focus on Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and/or Computer Vision Demonstrated ability to write Python code for quick demonstrations and for robust, scalable software systems Candidate must be willing to travel a minimum of 2 weeks per year U.S. citizenship is required. We will not sponsor employment visas for this opening Willing to relocate to an office in Niskayuna, NY Ideal Candidate Characteristics Ph.D. focusing on AI, ML, and/or CV Deep expertise in areas such as Geometry in Computer Vision, CAD Registration, CT Imaging, Machine Learning + Physics, Explainable ML, Graph Neural Networks, Causal Inference Experience with grant proposals and execution of grant-supported research; communication with government agencies (e.g., DARPA, ARL, AFRL, ONR) Ability to obtain Secret (or higher) US Government clearance Post-doctoral or industrial experience developing AI / CV technologies Extensive publications in peer-reviewed venues Contributions to public domain codebases or a strong GitHub portfolio Compensation and Benefits The base pay range for this position is 80,000 - 150,000 USD annually. The offer may be influenced by experience, education, and skill set. Eligible for an annual discretionary bonus based on base salary. This posting has an intended close date; actual closing may vary.
