As a GE Vernova accelerator, GE Vernova Advanced Research is driving strategy and leading research & development efforts to execute on the business’s mission to help power the energy transition. We forge collaborations and help invent the technologies required to electrify and decarbonize for a zero-carbon future. Representing virtually every major scientific and engineering discipline, our researchers collaborate with GE Vernova’s businesses, the U.S. government, and more than 420 entities at the forefront of technology to execute on 150+ energy-focused projects. Our AI team develops and demonstrates innovative AI technologies to transform the future of energy. You will be part of a highly skilled team of AI Researchers tackling challenging problems across power generation, renewable energy, electric grids, robotics, and manufacturing, in collaboration with GE Vernova's business units and external partners in academia and government. Responsibilities
Research, conceptualize, and develop AI solutions for hard industrial problems Collaborate with teams of peer Researchers on new and continuing projects Demonstrate value of AI through early prototypes and solutions for real-world problems Employ software libraries, tools, and practices to implement efficient, scalable, and reusable solutions Create intellectual property by writing invention disclosures and filing patents Publish research work to scientific journals and conferences Write and/or support grant proposals Required Qualifications
PhD in Computer Science, Electrical/Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or related fields with a focus on Artificial Intelligence or MS degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or related fields with a minimum of 2 years of work experience in Artificial Intelligence Demonstrated ability to write Python code Familiarity with AI, ML, and GenAI packages and frameworks like PyTorch, TensorFlow, HuggingFace, and more Deep expertise in one or more of: Large Language Models (LLM), Time-series or Multi-Modal Foundation Models, Scientific Machine Learning with Physics, Graph Neural Networks Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required Must be willing to work out of an office located in Niskayuna, NY Desired Characteristics
PhD focused on new advancements in Artificial Intelligence Experience in one or more: Multi-Modal Foundation Models with image, tabular data, and text; Integrating Physics in Machine Learning; Graph Neural Networks for Energy Systems; Integrating LLM with knowledge graphs Experience in writing grant proposals and participating in grant-supported research with government agencies (e.g., DoE, ARPA-E, DoD, DARPA) Contribution to public domain codebases or a significant GitHub portfolio Compensation and Benefits
The base pay range for this position is $88,600-$147,600. This position is eligible for a performance bonus.
