UCD Center for Labor and Community - Education and Curriculum Director
The Labor and Community Center of the Greater Capital Region at UC Davis Law seeks a dynamic curriculum development professional to serve as our Education and Curriculum Director. The Center champions nonpartisan, evidence-based domestic policy solutions that improve the economic, political, and social landscape for workers in the state of California, along with capacity-building to develop strong worker leaders. Under the supervision of the Co-Directors, the Education and Curriculum Director is responsible for developing, managing, and executing the Center’s public education portfolios. The Director will act as the primary point of contact for the Center’s education functions, overseeing the organization’s public education agenda, including curriculum-building, capacity-building education projects, contract-based education programs, and faculty-driven education projects. The Director will play a critical role in the production of digital and print publications that connect academic content with decision-makers, including elected and appointed officials, funders, the media, and other policy decision-makers. The Director will support the Center’s communications strategy and execution as it relates to targeted messaging and press functions relating to the organization’s public education and capacity-building activities. Metrics for success will include the consistent, widespread, and successful amplification of Center activities related to its education, pipeline, and capacity-building functions; the successful identification of partnership opportunities in addition to successful management of large extramural grants and contracts; and the integration of Center education activities into evidence-based policymaking across the country. Responsibilities: Develop and facilitate the design and structure of the Center’s education portfolio with support from the Center’s Co-Directors. Establish a public education agenda, identify related projects, disseminate activities, and cultivate relationships with scholarly, practitioner, and/or policy experts. Recruit, train, and supervise student fellows, including facilitating weekly meetings and creating training curriculum to develop their research and policy skills. Minimum Qualifications: Experience developing curriculum; training students from various audiences, including labor, community, and professional; and capacity-building for labor and community audiences. Experience in grant-writing, contract development, and donor relations. Expertise in U.S. and/or international labor movements, and/or racial and economic justice organizations and campaigns. Preferred Qualifications: A PhD or terminal degree in Social Science, Law, or Humanities. Curriculum Development and Program management.
