Job Description Health and Safety Security Lead
— In this role, you will ensure that Lakeshore adheres to Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines to reduce work-related injuries and provide a safe workplace environment for our associates. This position supports daily operations by monitoring safety protocols, conducting inspections and promoting a culture of safety and security. The HSS Lead is a hands-on role that collaborates with warehouse staff and leadership to identify risks, implement corrective actions and maintain compliance with company policies and regulatory standards. Applicants should have an OSHA 30-Hour Certification. The ideal candidate also possesses a Forklift Trainer Certification issued by the state of Utah and a HAZWOPER Certification.
A day on the job looks like this
Ensuring strict compliance with OSHA guidelines to minimize work-related injuries and foster a safe workplace environment for our employees
Conducting routine inspections of floors, walkways and work areas to identify potential safety hazards, implementing in-field corrections and promptly reporting unsafe scenes or practices to the safety leadership
Leading immediate response efforts to in-field accidents and safety incidents
Conducting thorough post-accident investigations, including root cause analysis (RCA)
Leading and supporting warehouse staff in daily safety practices
Conducting training on safety protocols and Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) operations
Ensuring staff are trained on and compliant with company and regulatory safety standards
Assisting in the creation and revision of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for safety
Working with safety leadership to review, implement and monitor safety protocols
Qualifications Got the skills and experience? Here’s what we’re looking for:
High school diploma (required)
2+ years of experience in the field or in a similar position
OSHA 30-Hour Certification (required)
HAZWOPER Certification (preferred)
Forklift Trainer Certification—State of Utah (preferred)
Ability to solve routine problems and make sound decisions using established procedures
Strong communication skills—able to keep others informed verbally and in writing, using the appropriate level of detail for the audience; actively listens to other’s insights and direction
Proactive and accountable—takes responsibility for completing assigned tasks and recovers quickly from setbacks
Collaborative mindset—works well with others to make productive contributions to the team
