This is a full-time on-site role for a Director of Special Education at Benton Harbor Area Schools, located in Benton Harbor, MI. The Director of Special Education is responsible for overseeing and managing the special education programs and services within the school district. Day-to-day tasks include developing and implementing special education curriculum, providing leadership and support to special education teachers, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations, and collaborating with parents, teachers, and administrators to address students' needs. Additionally, the Director of Special Education will monitor and assess the effectiveness of special education programs and make necessary adjustments for continuous improvement. Responsibilities

Oversee and manage the district’s special education programs and services. Develop and implement special education curriculum. Provide leadership and support to special education teachers. Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations related to special education. Collaborate with parents, teachers, and administrators to address students’ needs. Monitor and assess the effectiveness of programs and implement improvements for continuous quality. Qualifications

Experience in K-12 setting At least three (3) years successful teaching experience Strong skills in Curriculum Development and Special Education Proven experience in Educational Leadership Background in Teaching and Education Excellent communication and collaboration skills Ability to work effectively with diverse populations Master's degree in Special Education, Educational Leadership, or related field Experience in administrative roles within an educational setting is preferred Knowledge of state and federal special education regulations
