Overview

This position is a customer-focused technical sales professional who provides high-level technical information and design/implementation guidance to one or more customers in a dedicated and/or pooled manner. The individual provides an architectural perspective across the Red River product portfolio, including products and services, leveraging knowledge of various OEM solutions as well as their technical specialization. The role encompasses pre-sales engineering activities including identifying customer outcomes and challenges, proposing technology solutions, serving as the primary client technical resource on sales engagements, and achieving/maintaining OEM certifications in the area of expertise. The individual has a broad understanding of the company’s capabilities across multiple technologies and architectures and is both technical and business-focused. As needed, this position collaborates with Design Architects and Solution Engineering peers to define the best solution and works jointly with Account Executives to determine the technology solution that best fits customer requirements. The individual provides technology-related input for internal initiatives, including ideas for new services and offers based on Red River’s capabilities. Occasionally, the individual may assist with the technical interview process for Solution Engineering candidates. Primary Position Tasks

Provide solution/technology/product guidance and technical support for sales opportunities.

Serve as the technical point of contact and technical sales lead for the customer.

Provide initial input for proposals and statements of work. Validate that the completed proposal (SOW, BOM, LOE, etc.) aligns with customer desired outcomes.

Demonstrate technical knowledge and consultative skills and the ability to work effectively with the Red River team.

Maintain professional presales engineering skills and in-depth knowledge in at least one specialization (e.g., Data Center, Collaboration, Security, Microsoft Modern Workplace, Cloud or Route/Switch/Wireless). Possess knowledge of relevant solutions sets, product line specifications, performance criteria, and applications.

Minimum Education/Certification/Experience Requirements

Bachelor’s degree

5–7 years of work experience

2–4 years of presales engineer experience

For Federal positions, must be a U.S. citizen and qualify to obtain a Secret Clearance; active and verified professional-level OEM certifications (e.g., Cisco CCNP, CCDP)

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Strong technical aptitude with the ability to learn new technical information quickly.

Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey messages verbally or in writing.

Understands customer business outcomes as described by the customer, with basic vertical/industry awareness.

Understands the sales process and partners with the Account Executive to execute for success.

Ability to relate technology or technical solutions to solving customer business problems.

Ability to create a high-level implementation plan (SOW) for a customer solution and provide initial input for proposals and statements of work. Validates the SOW, BOM, and LOE prior to delivery to the customer.

Capable of demonstrating solutions within their area of technical strength.

Ability to build rapport and trust with team members, customers, and partners.

Maintains current and attains additional OEM and industry certifications, as required.

Essential Elements

Mental, physical, and equipment considerations: This position is an office role that requires remaining in a stationary position for multiple hours during the workday. The role requires the ability to continuously communicate with coworkers throughout the day using Red River approved and/or provided communication tools and equipment. Special Requirements
