Assistant/Associate Professor Position Summary

Primary duties will include teaching upper-level undergraduate and graduate OM courses, engaging in research that results in published articles in top peer-reviewed journals in their field, and performing service as assigned by the department, college, and university. Detailed Position Information

The Department of Information Systems, Statistics, and Management Science at the Culverhouse College of Business, University of Alabama, invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Operations Management. The appointment may be made at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor, commensurate with the individual's record, with a start date of either January 1, 2026, or August 16, 2026. Primary duties include leading an independent research program targeting top journals in the field of Operations Management, teaching Operations Management and Analytics courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels where there are current and future needs, contributing to the development of students in our PhD program through teaching and advising, and service to the department, college, university, and profession. The University of Alabama is the state’s flagship university. This R1 research institution is located in Tuscaloosa, one of America’s archetypal college towns. The Operations Management group is housed within the Department of Information Systems, Statistics, and Management Science, one of the largest departments in the Culverhouse College of Business with over 40 full-time faculty and instructors. The department is home to most of the College’s STEM-designated programs and is known for its collegial environment, which fosters productive interdisciplinary collaboration and innovation. Minimum Qualifications

A doctoral degree in Operations Management or a closely related field (e.g.: Operations Research, Management Science, or Industrial Engineering) by the time the appointment begins. For the Assistant Professor position, evidence of a strong commitment to original, high-impact research with clear potential for publication in top-tier, peer-reviewed journals. For the Associate Professor position, a sustained research agenda with a record of publications in high-quality outlets. In both cases, research should be grounded in Operations Management with current working papers and/or published work reflecting active engagement in the discipline. Evidence of interest in and enthusiasm for teaching excellence. Willingness to provide service for the operation and functioning of the department, school, and university. Preferred Qualifications

Preference will be given to applicants with: Demonstrated ability to publish in top-tier, peer-reviewed journals on topics aligning with current faculty interests. Experience incorporating advanced analytics and artificial intelligence in research and the classroom. Experience, desire, and flexibility to teach a range of upper-level undergraduate & graduate (MS, MBA, PhD) Operations Management and Analytics courses.
