Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate, results-driven Director to join our development team and spearhead major donor and capital campaign fundraising efforts that will drive lasting impact. This role will manage a portfolio of high-capacity prospects, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding gifts ranging from $10,000 to $1M+. This role is critical in building long-term donor relationships, supporting our capital campaign, and ensuring that our organization achieves its financial and mission-driven goals. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated success in securing major gifts, strong communication and relationship-building skills, and a passion for advancing our mission. Key Responsibilities
Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward a portfolio of 75-125 major gift prospects and donors. Develop and implement tailored strategies for cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship. Conduct donor meetings and site visits to deepen engagement and secure gifts. Plan and execute cultivation and fundraising events Partner with senior leadership, staff, and board members to maximize donor relationships. Prepare compelling proposals, presentations, and campaign materials. Track progress, maintain accurate donor records, and ensure timely acknowledgements. Represent the organization at public facing events to educate and cultivate new donors Design and execute capital campaign strategies in collaboration with leadership and board. Engage volunteers and board members in donor outreach and solicitations. Assist the team in the planning of high-impact fundraising events, such as galas, luncheons, and parlor meetings. Coordinate with marketing and communications team to develop donor-facing materials. Monitor fundraising performance and adjust strategies as needed. Work closely with finance and gift processing teams to ensure accurate tracking,allocation, and recognition of gifts. Provide regular progress reports and donor briefings to senior leadership and board. Contribute to departmental planning, staff meetings, and strategic initiatives. Other Duties
Stay informed of fundraising trends and best practices. Actively participate and engage in leadership team meetings Participate in professional development and networking within the philanthropic community. Perform additional duties as assigned. Qualifications & Skills
Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, communications, business administration, or related field. 3–5 years of proven success in major gift fundraising, including managing capital campaigns. Demonstrated success in securing gifts of $10,000+ and exceeding fundraising goals. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build long-term donor relationships. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including proposal writing and public speaking. Experience organizing and executing donor cultivation and stewardship events. Proficiency with donor management systems and Microsoft Office Suite. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Knowledge of fundraising regulations, donor stewardship, and nonprofit financial management. Ability to travel within the Capital District for donor engagement, with occasional evening and weekend availability Salary Range: $60,000 – $70,000, based on experience. 401(k) with employer match Health, dental, and vision insurance Paid time off and retirement plan Chance to make a significant impact on our mission The employee’s work environment is primarily field-based, requiring frequent travel to meet with donors, cultivate relationships, and represent the organization outside of the office.
