Serves as the J6D AI risk management DLA technical lead; ensures responsible AI is strategically operational within DLA and adheres to OMB, EO, legislation, laws and regulations. Implements DLA and DoD AI guidance to ensure responsible AI for AI acquisition, development, and deployment within DLA organizations. Evaluates algorithms and tools to support AI data manipulation, processing, and application of fact-finding and investigative techniques in establishing and executing implementation procedures for planning, coordination, monitoring, and ensuring inclusion of DLA customers’ requirements for mission objectives. Serves as the authoritative subject matter expert (SME) for decisions and guidance dealing with compromises and changes in implementation program philosophy, focus, or objectives. Directs and monitors effective resource utilization consistent with established budget; recommends or initiates action to align resources. Determines gaps in DLA’s AI risk management and responsible AI program areas and develops corrective action plans, promoting a forward-thinking vision for advancement and excellence. Coordinates and integrates AI into strategic planning initiatives and program requirements with management. Prepares and provides briefings to senior leadership within the Agency and to external audiences, as required. Qualification Summary
To qualify for a Data Scientist (Artificial Intelligence Risk), your resume and supporting documentation must support: A Degree in Mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science or a field directly related to the position. The degree must be in a major field of study (at least at the baccalaureate level) appropriate for the position. B: One year of specialized experience directly related to the position. For GS-15, one year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-14 or equivalent. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade, time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes: identifying methods, processes, algorithms, tools, and systems to extract and interpret varied structured and unstructured data sets; providing implementation program oversight, advice, and recommendations in designing responsible AI adoption strategy; collaborating with AI governance and risk management to ensure ethics, reporting, and inventory requirements; managing Plan of Action and Milestones (POAMs) and coordinating implementation effects across the organization. Education: Courses equivalent to a major field of study plus additional education or experience may qualify; volunteer experience is creditable. Seniority level
