Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in the natural or physical sciences, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics.
Experience and/or training involving fingerprint analysis and classification preferred.
An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
Such experience must be clearly documented on the application for consideration.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
The following courses/certifications are required within one (1) year of the date of hire and must be maintained throughout employment with the Biometric Identification Unit:
Successful completion of all modules included in the BIU Training Manual.
Successful completion of a Federal Bureau of Investigations Basic Fingerprint Pattern Interpretation Course (40 hours) or equivalent.
Successful completion of FCIC/NCIC Certification.
Successful completion of annual proficiency test in the friction ridge discipline offered by an external provider.
Possession and maintenance of a valid Florida driver's license throughout employment without restrictions that may affect job performance.
The work shift for this position is Alpha shift. (Alpha shift is 10:45 p.m. to 7 a.m.)
Under administrative direction, the purpose of the position is to assist in the processing and recording of fingerprints and related data. As an ANAB accredited unit, position adheres to accreditation standards by the American National Standards Institute National Accreditation Board (ANAB). Position follows Organization of Scientific Area Committees (OSAC) best practices for the friction ridge discipline. Position complies with Biometric Identification Unit (BIU) Standard Operating Procedures Manual, Quality Assurance Manual, BIU Training Manual, and governmental mandates. Employees in this classification function in an entry level status performing casework under the close supervision of the Fingerprint Analyst Supervisor. Position is responsible for processing, classification, verification, recording and search of fingerprint information and related data. Performs related work as directed.

Assists in the classification, filing, and recording of fingerprints and related data pursuant to departmental and National Crime Information Center (NCIC) fingerprint classification procedures.
Enters ten prints, performs quality control and search verification on the Automated Biometric Identification System.
Under general supervision, processes, inputs, searches, updates, files and compares fingerprint data and related records, legal documents and reports.
Assists with law enforcement and departmental agency inquiries concerning fingerprint data, findings and identification.
Under general supervision, generates and develops reports and/or records as related to unit functions.
May attend depositions, trials, or other court functions as required.
Performs related duties as directed.
Tasks involve the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (5-10 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation. Work is performed in usual office conditions with rare exposure to disagreeable environmental factors.
