PGAL’s Houston office is seeking an Infrastructure Support Specialist to join our IT team. This role offers the opportunity to grow your career in networking, firewall, and server administration while providing hands-on support to end users in a creative, fast-paced design environment. Responsibilities
Install, configure, and maintain network switches, VLANs, and SD-WAN Administer and monitor firewall systems (rule sets, VPNs, and security policies) Support LAN/WAN infrastructure for performance, security, and uptime Troubleshoot and resolve network connectivity issues across the firm Assist with network monitoring, performance optimization, and configuration backups Collaborate with IT management on infrastructure planning, compliance, and security posture Maintain accurate documentation of network configurations, changes, and incidents Provide end-users support for escalated issues related to networking or infrastructure and assist with desktop support tasks when needed. Additional Responsibilities
Accept and perform special project assignments as deemed necessary by IT management Participate in incident response for infrastructure and network security events Stay current with emerging technologies in switching, firewalls, and IT infrastructure Contribute to IT projects with a networking and security emphasis Crosstrain team members in networking basics to strengthen the IT group Qualifications
Associate’s degree in computer science, technology, or equivalent experience Working knowledge of SD-WAN, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, VPNs, and routing Experience with switch programming and firewall administration (Sophos, Alcatel-Lucent, Cisco, or similar) Familiarity with LAN/WAN troubleshooting, packet analysis, and network monitoring tools Familiarity with M365 and Active Directory Certifications such as A+, Network+, Security+, or CCNA are a plus Ability to move IT equipment and perform basic cabling as needed (up to 50 lbs) Attributes for Success
