Derwent Estate Vineyard is now looking for an experienced Retail Manager to join their team.

Key Responsibilities

• Managing inventory for wine, merchandise, and gourmet products sold at the cellar door;
• Establishing pricing strategies for wine and merchandise based on market trends and business goals;
• Planning and overseeing cellar door events, wine tastings, and promotional campaigns;
• Leading wine tastings and product recommendations to enhance customer experience;
• Upselling wine club memberships, exclusive releases, and event bookings;
• Overseeing financial reporting, daily sales reconciliations, and revenue tracking;
• Monitoring expenses and revenue to ensure profitability of the cellar door and store;
• Hiring and training cellar door staff, retail associates, and event coordinators;
• Implementing safe handling and storage procedures for wine and other retail products;

Requirements

• At least 3 years of experience as a Retail Manager;
• Ability to manage wine stock levels, track sales, and ensure optimal product availability;
• Knowledge of retail budgeting, sales forecasting, and revenue tracking;
• Skills in organizing wine tastings, cellar door events, and private functions;
• Ability to build relationships with customers, suppliers, and distributors;
• Understanding of liquor licensing laws, responsible service of alcohol (RSA), and occupational health & safety regulations;
