What we are looking for: The Operations Support Specialist collaborates with project teams to ensure that all construction processes, materials, and workmanship meet project specifications, industry standards, and client expectations. The role requires deep understanding of construction practices and a high level of technical expertise, playing a critical role in maintaining precision and quality throughout all phases of the project. The Operations Support Specialist is resourcefully responsible for ensuring that each project team meets the highest standards of quality, from initial planning to final inspection.
Responsibilities:
Conduct regular audits, inspections, and quality checks on ongoing construction activities, ensuring adherence to work plans, specifications, and regulatory/environmental standards. Ensure that all inspection reports are accurate and timely Review project plans and specifications Observe and document work processes Identify quality risks during construction phases and develop mitigation strategies to prevent defects or non-compliance issues. Assist projects with submitting necessary QC documentation as required by contract Maintain detailed quality documentation, including test results, non-conformance reports, and corrective action plans. Prepare periodic quality reports for internal teams and clients. Participate in project huddles and provide input and support as needed. Implement and promote continuous improvement programs for construction quality, analyzing past projects for lessons learned and process enhancements. Develop and maintain daily and monthly inspection reports Collaborate with project teams to identify quality risks and develop proactive strategies for risk mitigation throughout the construction lifecycle. Train and mentor project teams on QC processes, industry standards, and continuous improvement methodologies. Work closely with safety department to align quality control practices with the safety program practices to ensure best practices are being followed on all sites. Coordinate third-party testing and inspections where required by the project or regulatory bodies. Other duties as assigned Qualifications:
Degree in Civil or Construction Management or equivalent of 15 years' experience. Minimum of 4 years of experience implementing and overseeing a QC program on heavy civil construction projects NCDOT experience required. NETTCP certifications a plus NICET Level 3 or 4 certification a plus Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) and American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) guidelines a must Ability to travel up to 75% Must be able to communicate effectively and have good interpersonal skills. Must have planning and organizational skills. Expert knowledge of safety regulations. Ability to work independently and within a team. What you need to know:
