Mid-to-Senior Intellectual Property Associate – Patent Prosecution Focus | Washington, DC
A national law firm is hiring a mid-to-senior level Intellectual Property Attorney with a technical background in computer science or electrical engineering. Join a respected IP team handling patent prosecution and counseling from any of the firm’s U.S. offices. The branch in the nation's capital offers a stellar litigation department and handles business and tax issues as well. A nationally recognized, full-service law firm is seeking a talented and driven Intellectual Property Associate to join its IP team in any of its U.S. offices. This opportunity is ideal for candidates with a strong background in patent prosecution, particularly in areas like telecommunications, multiprocessor design, and computer circuits. Key Responsibilities: Interview inventors and draft detailed patent applications. Handle all phases of U.S. and international patent prosecution, including appeals. Conduct freedom-to-operate, validity, and infringement analyses. Draft and deliver well-reasoned legal opinion letters. Advise clients on complex IP matters, especially patents. Support litigation or transactional matters as needed. Collaborate with colleagues across offices and departments. Stay current on legal developments in the IP field. Qualifications: 2–5 years of U.S. patent prosecution experience. JD from an accredited U.S. law school. Background in computer science, electrical engineering, or related technical field (BS/MS preferred). USPTO registration (or patent bar eligibility) required. Excellent analytical and writing skills.
