$125,000 - $145,000 annually Position Summary
The
Director of Finance
is a key member of the Leadership Team, reporting directly to the Executive Director and working closely with the Board of Directors’ Finance Committee. This role is instrumental in guiding strategic growth and ensuring operational excellence through robust financial systems and practices. The
Director of Finance
will oversee all aspects of financial management, including budgeting, accounting, cash flow, audit preparation, and medical billing. This is a unique opportunity to shape the financial future of a growing nonprofit organization. Key Responsibilities
Oversee the Accounts Payable and Receivable processes, with a focus on significant billing of Medi-Cal. Collaborate with the Leadership Team to create and monitor the organization's budget and forecast future budget scenarios. Manage the general ledger meticulously, implementing fund allocation strategies to provide a clear and accurate financial picture of the organization. Develop and implement a comprehensive system for financial reporting ensuring accuracy and timeliness. Maintain records to facilitate financial audits, working closely with auditors to ensure a smooth process. Adhere to contract billing and collection schedules, ensuring steady cash flow to support operational requirements. Generate and present detailed financial reports for the Board of Directors, funders, and other stakeholders, offering transparent insights into the organization's financial health. Oversee payroll processes and administer employee and retirement benefits. Ensure compliance with funders financial requirements. Oversee the accurate and timely filing of the organization's 990 submission, maintaining compliance with regulatory standards. Supervise and mentor finance staff, fostering professional development and collaboration. Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business (MA/MBA/CPA preferred). Minimum of 7 years of financial management experience, preferably in the nonprofit sector. Demonstrated skills in problem solving, critical thinking, financial literacy, and communication. Strong skills with and experience utilizing software systems, including QuickBooks and Excel. Experience managing diverse grants and funding sources, including federal funds. Strong knowledge of GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards. Demonstrated experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting. Proven ability to manage audit processes, ensure compliance, and support resource development.
