Overview
Fiscal Analyst 5 – Accounting Office, Full-Time - Project (Limited Duration), Olympia Central Office Join WDVA as a Fiscal Analyst 5 and use your expertise to drive financial excellence. We are hiring a senior-level financial expert for our Accounting Office to provide advanced technical support in financial reporting, journal voucher development, accounting reconciliation, and other complex financial management tasks. This is a project role which will directly support our agency's transition from legacy financial systems to the statewide One Washington initiative and is critical to ensuring seamless operational continuity of our Accounting Office. Responsibilities
Process transactions including cash receipts and vendor payment. Prepare and adjust journal entries. Post monthly, quarterly, and yearly accruals. Assist with financial and operational audits. Research and correct account discrepancies. Review, reconvile, and balance general ledger accounts. Analyze and reconcile internal general ledger accounts and bank statements. Assist in the evaluation of internal controls. Prepare financial reports. Assist with monthly and fiscal year-end closing. Coordinate and deliver OneWA requests. Draft or update DVA policies and procedures to reflect new statewide training. Develop training materials. Document business processes and perform GAP analysis. Prepare desk manuals. And more! Qualifications
Required: Professional experience may substitute for the required education but not for the accounting credit hours. Bachelor's degree, which includes 18 quarter or 12 semester hours in accounting, auditing, budgeting, and finance. Three (3) to five (5) years of progressively increasing responsibilities working in an accounting field. Ability to: Be flexible and pivot focus based on business needs and changing initiatives. Successfully complete work accurately and in a timely manner. Work independently with minimal supervision. Demonstrate advanced-level knowledge on Microsoft Excel and Word. Preferred/Desired: State of Washington accounting experience in accounts receivable and accounts payable, as well as federal grant requirements. Three (3) years of experience with Washington state accounting systems including AFRS, Enterprise Reporting, Toolbox, and TEMS. Familiarity with state administrative and accounting requirements. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Special Requirements
Must be able to pass a DSHS BCCU Background Check prior to beginning services and every two (2) years in accordance with WDVA Policy 615.000 Background Checks. Information from the background check will not necessarily preclude employment but will be considered in determining the applicant's suitability and competence to perform in the position. Must sign the confidentiality statement for all employees. Must become familiar and comply with all DVA policies and procedures and Collective Bargaining Agreements as applicable. Must maintain regular and reliable attendance. Must successfully complete, within mandated time frame, employee orientation and all other mandatory annual, in-service, and other required training. In an emergency, may be asked to stay for an extended period and perform duties appropriate to the situation. Must have a valid driver's license. Must be able to travel to WDVA locations throughout the state. Computer usage requires professional business use of internet, Outlook, and DVA IT equipment. Periods of mandatory overtime may occur without advanced notice. Positions requiring travel must have a valid unrestricted driver's license and must be insured if driving a privately owned vehicle on state business.
