Coinbase
Overview
Ready to be pushed beyond what you think you’re capable of? At Coinbase, our mission is to increase economic freedom in the world. It’s a massive, ambitious opportunity that demands the best of us, every day, as we build the emerging onchain platform — and with it, the future global financial system. To achieve our mission, we’re seeking a very specific candidate. We want someone who is passionate about our mission and who believes in the power of crypto and blockchain technology to update the financial system. We want someone who is eager to leave their mark on the world, who relishes the pressure and privilege of working with high caliber colleagues, and who actively seeks feedback to keep leveling up. We want someone who will run towards, not away from, solving the company’s hardest problems. Our work culture is intense and isn’t for everyone. If you want to build the future alongside others who excel in their disciplines and expect the same from you, there’s no better place to be. While many roles at Coinbase are remote-first, we are not remote-only. In-person participation is required throughout the year. Team and company-wide offsites are held multiple times annually to foster collaboration, connection, and alignment. Attendance is expected and fully supported. Role
Senior Sourcing Manager, part of Coinbase’s S2P Team, will oversee the process of procuring real estate and related services. This role is responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive sourcing strategy to acquire, lease, and manage a company-like real estate portfolio. The manager will work closely with internal departments to ensure real estate decisions align with the company’s business goals, financial objectives, and long-term strategy. The role focuses on high-level planning, negotiation, and strategic relationship-building with brokers, developers, and other key partners rather than day-to-day transaction management. The role requires experience in managing internal teams, vendor relationships, and financial risk mitigation while embodying Coinbase’s values: Act Like an Owner, Clear Communication, Customer Focus, Efficient Execution, Continuous Learning, and Positive Energy. What you’ll be doing (i.e., job duties)
Team Leadership: Ensure the real estate portfolio strategy aligns with Coinbase’s business needs, growth objectives, and financial targets. Strategic Leadership: Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership and internal partners on real estate matters, including office location, space strategy, and portfolio optimization; serve as the primary representative for high-stakes real estate negotiations and communications with landlords, brokers, and developers. Vendor Management: Oversee relationships with commercial real estate brokers, property management firms, and other vendors; ensure partnerships align with financial goals and compliance standards; serve as the escalation point for critical real estate issues. Risk Mitigation: Develop and deploy a risk mitigation strategy for the portfolio; ensure compliance with legal, financial, and regulatory requirements; partner with Legal, Finance, and Information Security on due diligence. Stakeholder Communication: Clearly communicate real estate decisions to senior leadership and ensure alignment across cross-functional teams; collaborate with Finance, Legal, HR, and IT to execute leases, acquisitions, and facility management. Continuous Improvement: Drive adoption of best-in-class real estate sourcing and portfolio management practices; foster innovation through tools and technologies for market analysis and space utilization. What we look for in you (i.e., job requirements)
Education & Background: Bachelor’s degree in Real Estate, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. Minimum of 10+ years of experience in strategic sourcing and project management, including 5 years in commercial real estate. Skills & Expertise: Proven ability to manage and negotiate complex commercial real estate leases, acquisitions, and multi-million dollar vendor contracts (e.g., brokerage agreements, property management). Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills with experience in financial modeling, market analysis, and problem-solving for real estate transactions. Experience leading large-scale real estate projects with cross-functional teams (e.g., office build-outs, site consolidations, or global portfolio optimization). Expertise in real estate portfolio management software, lease administration platforms, and risk-mitigation frameworks. Leadership & Communication: Advanced negotiation skills with the ability to influence Legal, Finance, HR, and other cross-functional teams at all levels. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with ability to deliver data-driven real estate recommendations to executives. Nice to have: Familiarity with sourcing and spend management technologies; training or experience in commercial real estate law, lease review, and/or contract negotiation. Experience driving real estate strategies for a remote-first company. Experience in the crypto or fintech space. Pay Transparency and Benefits Pay Range: $185,215—$217,900 USD Full-time offers include target bonus, target equity, and benefits (medical, dental, vision, 401(k)).
