Avionic/Instrumentation Technician

position is responsible for ensuring that all aircrafts equipment meets airworthiness standards. They ensure that equipment is correctly maintained and modified with the most recent improvements, perform necessary tests, and install select aircraft structural components. The Avionic/Instrumentation Technician may accompany Flight Test Engineers when they are conducting actual flight tests. Due to licensing requirements,

may be required to have a licensed position approve/sign-off on their work. In This Role You Will Install and route wire and flight test instrumentation without disturbing aircraft systems, structures or individual components. Identify and measure parts for wear, interference fit and functionality using precision instruments. Assemble and install electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and structural components. Test operation of instrumentation and other systems using engineered documents and directions. Assist with Instrumentation Mechanic duties, as assigned: Perform wet layup, laminate fiberglass shapes. Cut/sand fiber-glass or carbon-fiber using pneumatic tools. Modify aircraft structures, systems (from drawings, schematics, charts and engineering orders). Locate and mark dimensions and reference lines from engineering orders. Clean, strip and sand surface and material in preparation for bonding instrumentation. Fabricate brackets, doublers, or other parts using metal fabrication machines (saws, brakes, shears, grinders and drills). Operate a variety of motorized vehicles (forklift, man-lifts, belt-loaders, cherry-pickers and passenger vehicles around the aircraft while maintaining aircraft clearance and safety). Complete Lab Work as assigned. The Skills You Will Bring (Minimum) Education High School Diploma or GED Associate’s Degree in related field (Applied Science, Aerospace Technology, Avionics, etc.) - Preferred Valid Forklift Certification A&P License - Preferred Experience Three (3) plus years of experience in the aerospace industry as an Instrumentation Technician. Three (3) years of experience in Avionics or equivalent (i.e. A&P License). Physical Requirements The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and/or hear. The employee is frequently required to sit, stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Must have the ability to sit for long periods of time. The employee is frequently required to climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50-70 pounds (with assistance, e.g. a hand truck). Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The employee must be able to safely operate motorize vehicles. Ability to be present at Moses Lake worksite up to 12 hour days as requested is required. Travel (flying and driving) to various domestic worksites may be required. This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. 120.15 is required.
