As an Avionics Mechanical Engineer at Reliable Robotics, you will be part of the Vehicle Design and Integration team, reporting to the Vehicle Design and Integration Manager. This team is a small group of highly motivated individuals designing, testing, and flying advanced mechanical systems. The harness engineer role is highly cross-functional, intersecting avionics, mechanical, integration, and production teams, with significant hands-on work designing, building, integrating, and testing harnesses, enclosures, and mounting hardware. You will have the opportunity to broaden your design and application experience. This position is located at our facility in Mountain View, California.

Responsibilities

In your role as Avionics Mechanical Engineer, you will collaborate with avionics, mechanical, and integration teams to define hardware interfaces, design detailed harnesses—including routing—design and test enclosures for environmental protection, and create structural mounts to secure hardware in the aircraft. You will have the opportunity to design, install, and test hardware on a remotely operated aircraft and play a key role in hardware integration on the airplane. Basic Success Criteria

BS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent industry experience 2+ years experience in mechanical or avionics hardware design Ability to route harnessing both in CAD and physically in the aircraft strategically Experience with connectors, backshells, EMI shielding, and cable/wire protection methods Designing and analyzing structural mounts A passion for spatial packaging Logical, inquisitive, and eager to teach and learn Preferred Criteria

4+ years experience in harness design and avionics packaging Experience performing design trades and detailed design of aerospace flight harnesses Proficiency with NX routing and Capital Harness Designer Experience designing avionics enclosures Experience working on certification-path aviation development projects Experience testing hardware to DO-160 requirements Willingness to travel approximately 10% of the time is required.

The estimated salary range is $86,500 to $156,500 annually, plus cash and stock option awards, and benefits. Reliable Robotics aims to provide competitive compensation based on experience, expertise, market conditions, location, and pay equity.
