Strategic Negotiator, Data Center Market Development and Advocacy
The Data Center Market Development (DCMD) team is a dynamic group within Google's Energy and Location Strategy organization. We work behind the scenes, using a blend of market development, economic development, and public affairs to deliver and sustain the technical infrastructure that supports Google’s products. We are a creative, team-oriented group committed to building and operating the future of Google's data centers. As Google's products and services scale the globe, the Strategic Negotiation team works behind the scenes to secure infrastructure for Google's future -- everything from underwater cables to physical data center space. As a Strategic Negotiator, you will negotiate cost-effective solutions to support Google's infrastructure growth. You will work with specific project teams on negotiating agreements, managing vendor and partner relationships and presenting agreement recommendations to our Tech leadership. Responsibilities
Lead efforts to unlock new data center markets, optimize costs, and accelerate project timelines to support Google's global growth. Partner with internal and external technical teams to identify and pursue critical advocacy initiatives that meet our ongoing infrastructure needs. Craft messaging to effectively communicate the economic, social, and environmental benefits of our data center investments to stakeholders at all levels. Work with our policy teams to analyze and respond to relevant legislation, regulations, and sociopolitical trends to protect and advance Google’s physical infrastructure. Build and activate partnerships with economic development groups and other stakeholders to build support and momentum for our data center projects. Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience. 10 years of experience leading negotiations or business development. 5 years of experience in legislative affairs, government relations, or public advocacy, including developing positions and campaigns on key issues. 5 years of experience working within a regulated industry, a government agency, or a public affairs consulting firm. Experience in legislative analysis, building coalitions, and leading advocacy campaigns. Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in public policy, communications, business or a related field. 5 years of experience in advocacy, site selection, or economic development for large-scale, high-technology, or real estate projects.
