Scientist II – Bioanalytical Laboratory Department: Bioanalytical Group, Global Preclinical Development Location: Rahway, NJ (with travel up to 50% to West Point, PA) Company: Merck & Co. Position Description

We are seeking a motivated Scientist II to join our Bioanalytical group within Global Preclinical Development at our Rahway, NJ site. This senior bioanalytical bench scientist role focuses on independently developing, validating, and implementing ligand binding assays (LBA) in a GLP environment. The position involves laboratory work, report preparation, and interaction with internal and external partners to support regulatory submissions and ensure high-quality bioanalytical methods. Travel between Rahway, NJ and West Point, PA (up to 50%) may be required. Key Responsibilities

Independently develop, optimize, and troubleshoot LBA methods with efficiency and quality in mind; write bioanalytical methods and assume project responsibility for delegated bioanalytical aspects Implement ligand binding assays (LBA) for analysis of biological samples in a GLP environment, including sample preparation, instrument setup, data processing, interpretation, and issue resolution Establish LBA capability within the team, including equipment purchasing, lab setup, and workflow development Ensure all documentation is accurate, real-time, and compliant with current GLP and departmental guidelines Prepare reports (sample analysis and validation) independently and assemble documents for regulatory submissions Maintain compliance with required training, SOPs, safety-related guidance, and other relevant guidelines Meet agreed-upon short-term goals, objectives, and timelines independently with minimal management oversight Collaborate with partners across functions, such as Drug Safety and Metabolism, Quality Assurance, and Program Management Perform additional bioanalytical assignments as directed by management Multi-task effectively while maintaining a team-oriented approach Education

Required:

Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related scientific discipline with 3 years of industrial experience OR Master’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related scientific discipline with at least 7 years of industrial experience, preferably in a bioanalytical laboratory Required Experience and Skills

Proven experience developing, validating, and implementing ligand binding assays under GLP Excellent written and verbal communication skills Experience with Watson or other LIMS systems Proficiency in Microsoft Office products Preferred Experience and Skills

Highly motivated with strong desire for professional growth Experience in LC-MS/MS assay
