The Jesuit Spiritual Center at Milford seeks an Associate Director of Youth Ministry to assist the Director with the preparation and implementation of all facets of youth retreats. Responsibilities include overseeing the day-to-day operations of the youth ministry program; planning, preparing, staffing and facilitating retreats and programs; and working collaboratively with campus ministers, teachers, pastoral associates and principals. Must excel in large group facilitation and communication. This position does require evening and weekend work. The successful candidate will have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent education. Job Description
Position: Associate Director of Youth Ministry Department: Youth Ministry Status: Full-time, salaried Reports to: Director of Youth Ministry Primary Functions The Associate Director of Youth Ministry is responsible for assisting the Director of Youth Ministry with the preparation and implementation of various facets of youth retreats. Responsibilities and Activities Lead collaboratively with the Youth Ministry Team in planning, writing, and facilitating high quality retreats in alignment with the Core Values of the Jesuit Spiritual Center. Prepare retreat evaluation data and reports for internal and external use. Assist with budget tracking, contracts, invoicing, and other business operations of the Youth Ministry department. Coordinate retreat logistics, including facility setup, equipment maintenance and organization, print materials, hospitality, team travel, accommodations, etc. Coordinate with the Director of Youth Ministry to provide internal and external Youth Ministry Team communications. Organize and maintain youth ministry team retreat calendar and retreat schedules. Schedule retreat planning meetings and prepare meeting notes and minutes. Design and create content for retreats and social media. Provide music ministry on retreats in collaboration with the Director of Music Ministry. Assist in mentoring and supervising Ignite Interns in their work as members of the Youth Ministry Team. Represent the Jesuit Spiritual Center in its ministry to Catholic schools, colleges, universities, parishes, and other partners. Position Requirements A practicing Catholic; familiarity and identification with the language and values of the Catholic Church Effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail Willingness and ability to practice flexibility and to think on the spot Confidence and competence with public speaking Pastoral skills in compassionate listening and providing feedback Ability to welcome and work with diverse groups and individuals (race, socioeconomic, religion, etc.) Ability to engage youth in sharing personal experiences and faith with peers Ability to work both independently and collaboratively Knowledge and understanding of Catholic Youth Ministry as outlined in
Renewing the Vision: A Framework for Catholic Youth Ministry Some understanding of Ignatian Spirituality and the Society of Jesus Preferred Education, Training, and/or Experience Archdiocese of Cincinnati SafeParish Certification or equivalent Knowledge of and ability to use Microsoft and Adobe software Personal and/or professional experience in youth ministry, especially retreat ministry Musical ability, whether singing or playing an instrument; willingness to learn if not Work Environment and Demands Standing or sitting for prolonged periods Lifting Confidentiality Flexibility in working hours, including weekends and evenings Willingness to travel for off-site retreats, conferences, etc. We are a Catholic Ministry, sponsored by the Society of Jesus, offering Ignatian spiritual formation, retreats, and sacred space for all those seeking a deeper relationship with God.
