Coaches, Assistant Coaches, and Field Monitors Needed
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Northwest San Diego offers various sports programs for middle school students after school. These programs rely on volunteers to serve as coaches, assistant coaches, and field monitors. Responsibilities
Coaches (must be 16 or older):
Teach fundamental sports skills, promote skill development, fair play, teamwork, sportsmanship, and fun. Responsible for athletes until handed over to a parent or guardian. Communicate with Boys & Girls Clubs and parents about practices and games. Commitment required for the entire season. Assistant Coaches (must be 16 or older):
Assist coaches in teaching sports skills. Responsible for children until handed over to a parent or guardian. Commitment required for the season. Field Monitors (can be 14 or older):
Assist with setup and takedown of equipment, ensure practices and games start on time, report issues such as late referees, answer questions about fields, and maintain injury reports and first aid kits. Commitment required for the season. Opportunity Details & Requirements
Time Commitment:
Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays during the season, at designated times. Onboarding Process:
Complete volunteer application, reference checks, background check, fingerprinting, sign waivers, complete online training modules, and attend in-person orientation. Total time: approximately 2-3 hours. Required Skills/Experience:
Ability to teach sports fundamentals and communicate positively. Desired Skills/Experience:
Spanish language skills. Physical Requirements:
Ability to walk short distances and stand for extended periods. Note: No accommodations for physical limitations; the facility is not wheelchair accessible. Attire:
Clothing without inappropriate words, jeans or shorts acceptable, tight or revealing clothing not allowed, closed-toed shoes required. About Boys and Girls Clubs of Northwest San Diego
