Our client is seeking an experienced
Sales Engineer
with a strong background in
cutting tool sales . This role is focused on driving growth in high-performance tooling solutions, with a strong emphasis on accounts in the
aerospace
and
firearms
manufacturing sectors. The ideal candidate has a proven track record in developing customer relationships, providing technical support, and delivering productivity gains through advanced cutting tool solutions. Key Responsibilities Develop and grow sales of
indexable milling, turning, and holemaking tools , solid carbide drills and end mills, threading solutions, and toolholding systems. Drive new business by targeting OEMs, Tier 1/Tier 2 suppliers, and precision machine shops in aerospace, defense, firearms, and other high-precision industries. Provide
application engineering support —analyzing machining processes, recommending tool geometries, coatings, insert grades, and chipbreaker styles to improve cycle times, reduce tool costs, and enhance surface finishes. Conduct tooling audits, productivity improvement studies, and cost-per-part analysis to demonstrate value and ROI to customers. Collaborate with manufacturing engineers, CNC programmers, and machinists to implement tooling solutions for complex materials such as
titanium, Inconel, stainless steels, heat-treated alloys, and hardened steels . Support the sales cycle with
toolpath optimization, feeds & speeds calculations, cutting data recommendations, and CNC process troubleshooting . Manage a defined territory, building long-term relationships with distributors, channel partners, and end-users. Provide technical presentations, product demonstrations, and onsite training to customers. Desired Background Cutting tool sales experience is required —minimum 3 years in direct sales or application engineering for metal cutting tools. Experience calling on accounts in
aerospace
and/or
firearms
industries is highly desired. Strong knowledge of CNC machining, metal removal strategies, and advanced tooling technologies. Hands-on experience with
5-axis machining, high-speed milling, gun drilling, deep-hole drilling, reaming, and threading operations
preferred. Ability to interpret prints, machining drawings, GD&T, and understand manufacturing tolerances and surface finish requirements. Familiarity with ISO standards, AS9100 requirements, and production environments that demand high precision and reliability. Strong communication skills with the ability to influence shop floor personnel, engineers, and executive decision-makers. What the Client Offers Competitive base salary of $80,000 – $125,000 plus bonus incentive plan. Territory with established accounts and growth potential.
