Reporting directly to the Director of Electrical Engineering, the Principal Engineer will be responsible for leading electrical engineering design and standards across capital projects, facility upgrades, and cross-functional programs. What You'll Do and Who You'll Work With
Electrical engineering design aspects of capital projects, facility upgrades Electrical design support for planned outages, and design requirements related to equipment troubleshooting Business development/expansion projects at various operating facilities Lead, manage and execute multiple electrical projects/programs in the network Provide subject matter expertise and lead cross-functional teams while driving technical standardization as a guardian of Electrical Design Standards Mentor junior team members and share best practices and technical expertise Serve as a primary Electrical Engineering SME to the business Location/Travel Preferred location: Florham Park, NJ Headquarters Close collaboration with corporate functions and facilities; ~20% travel across the network Travel to domestic locations and Low-Cost-Countries (LCC) such as China may be required A remote work option is available with some additional travel to Florham Park and across the network Key Responsibilities Electrical Design (Core Responsibility)
Independently develop/review/approve Electrical System Design documents including One Line/Three Line Diagrams, Control Schematics, Wiring diagrams, Arc Flash, Short Circuit & Voltage Drop Calculations, Coordination Studies Develop scope of work for Electrical AE firms and coordinate with suppliers and contractors Plan design tasks so both design and construction are achieved within budget and schedule May assume duties of technical lead and SME for small to medium capital programs Electrical Design scope includes System Design, Scope Development, Engineering Calculations, Specifications, and Risk Assessments for HV/MV systems Engineering Standards (Core Responsibility)
Independently evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques and criteria, with judgment for adaptations Guardian of Key Electrical Design Standards/Specifications as SME for Reworld Electrical Team Update design standards and specifications to align with industry best practices and regulatory developments Commissioning/Startup: Provide SME design support to Project Managers and engineering support for commissioning and installations Troubleshooting/Problem Solving
Provide Electrical Engineering design troubleshooting support to plant operations; analyze failure root causes and develop cost-effective technical solutions Qualifications
Position Requirements: Minimum Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution; minimum 10 years of engineering experience Registered Professional Engineer or ability to obtain licensure preferred Experience Experience with High, Medium & Low Voltage distribution systems and electrical power generation in large utility power plants or large industrial co-generation facilities or design/architectural engineering firms Ability to work on multiple concurrent projects with minimal supervision Proficiency in One Line/Three Line Diagrams, DC Control Schematics, Wiring diagrams, GA drawings for interconnections, substations, power plants, and process plants including motors, MCCs, PDCs Experience across all project phases: conceptual design, scoping, detailed design, equipment selection, testing, and start-up problem resolution Experience with protective relaying schemes (MV) including coordination and relay settings; SEL relays experience preferred Proficiency in CAD/AutoCAD, ETAP, SKM Powertools, SEL Acselerator, etc. Effective written and oral communication skills; ability to analyze data, write technical reports, and develop work packages Compliance All Reworld positions require a candidate's ability to perform the duties and responsibilities of the role while upholding Reworld's values, including contributing to a safe and inclusive workplace and delivering results through trust.
