What You’ll Do and Who You’ll Work With Reporting directly to the Director of Electrical Engineering, the
Principal Engineer
will be responsible for electrical engineering design and leadership across capital projects and facility upgrades. You will lead, manage and execute multiple electrical projects/programs in the network, provide subject matter expertise, and drive technical standardization as a guardian of Electrical Design Standards. This role includes mentorship for junior team members and collaboration across stakeholders with high visibility in the organization. You will serve as a primary Electrical Engineering SME to the business. Location and Travel
Preferred location for this role is Florham Park, NJ (Headquarters). The role requires close collaboration with corporate functions and facilities and will include ~20% travel across the network. Travel to domestic locations and to Low-Cost-Countries (e.g., China) may be required. A remote work option is available with some additional travel to Florham Park and across the network. Compensation varies by location. Key Responsibilities
Electrical Design (Core Responsibility)
Independently develop/review/approve electrical system design documents including One Line/Three Line Diagrams, Control Schematics, Wiring diagrams, Arc Flash, Short Circuit & Channel Voltage drop calculations, coordination studies. Develop scope of work for electrical AE firms and coordinate with suppliers and contractors. Plan design tasks so design and construction are completed within budget and schedule. May assume duties of technical lead and SME for small to medium capital programs. Electrical design scope includes system design, scope development, engineering calculations, specifications, and risk assessments for HV/MV systems (switchgear, transformers, MCCs, relay/protection systems). Engineering Standards (Core Responsibility)
Evaluate, select and apply standard engineering techniques and criteria, adapting as needed for design. Serve as guardian of Key Electrical Design Standards/Specifications as SME for Reworld Electrical Team. Update design standards and specifications to reflect industry best practices and regulatory developments. Commissioning/Startup: provide SME design support to Project Managers and engineering support for commissioning and installations on assigned projects. Troubleshooting/Problem Solving
Provide electrical engineering design troubleshooting support to plant operations. Analyze failure root causes and develop cost-effective technical solutions. Qualifications
Position Requirements
Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution. Minimum 10 years engineering experience. Registered Professional Engineer or ability to obtain licensure in the future is preferred. Experience
Experience with high, medium and low voltage distribution systems and electrical power generation in large utility plants or large industrial facilities, or relevant design/engineering firm experience. Ability to work on multiple concurrent projects with minimal supervision. Proficiency in developing and understanding One Line/Three Line Diagrams, DC control schematics, wiring diagrams, interconnection drawings, substations, power plants and process plants electrical aspects (motors, MCCs, PDCs, etc.). Experience with all phases of a project from conceptual design to start-up; knowledge of HV (>100 kV) to LV (480 V) systems. Experience with protective relaying schemes (MV) including coordination and relay settings; SEL relays experience is highly preferred. Proficiency in CAD/AutoCAD, ETAP, SKM Powertools, SEL AcSELerator, and related tools. Strong written and oral communication skills; ability to analyze data, write technical reports, and develop work packages. Our DEI Commitment
