The Opportunity
The PFAS Process Lead will serve in a seller-doer role, growing opportunities and leading the execution of projects related to compliance with the proposed per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) regulations. This role focuses on PFAS treatment and destruction technologies in drinking water applications, with potential involvement in wastewater reclamation facilities, landfill leachate, and government facilities. The PFAS Process Lead will collaborate with the PFAS Initiative Team, Client Directors, and Project Managers on new business pursuits related to PFAS treatment projects. Responsibilities include business development activities and external marketing such as presenting at local/national conferences, building/maintaining client relationships, and identifying new business prospects. The PFAS Process Lead will act as a technical advisor on PFAS regulations and be a subject matter expert on compliance with the NPDWR, analytical methods for PFAS monitoring, rapid small-scale testing, breakthrough curve models, and adsorption process design for PFAS treatment.
Responsibilities
Client Focus
Identify key client interests and drivers for ongoing projects and new business prospects. Develop creative solutions to meet client goals and objectives. Lead business development or pursuit activities, including pre-positioning, proposal development, and client interviews. Attend and present on innovative PFAS treatment solutions at conferences. Prepare scope of services and fee estimates for proposals, new contracts, and amendments.
Project Execution
Serve as a technical advisor with deep PFAS regulatory knowledge; support and guide rapid small-scale testing, pilot testing, breakthrough-curve modeling, and adsorption design for PFAS treatment. Lead multiple projects and support multiple clients, acting as regional PFAS treatment expert. Deliver projects within budget, schedule, and quality expectations. Apply advanced engineering techniques and problem solving. Coordinate with internal and external teams to meet critical-path milestones. Mentor junior engineers and data scientists to foster technical development.
Management Responsibilities
Act as a lead person; no direct management responsibility for others.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited program. Minimum of 11 years related work experience. Ability to complete pre-employment onboarding including background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search as required by law.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s or Doctoral degree in civil, environmental, or chemical engineering. 11 years of experience in drinking water treatment with at least 5 years in water quality and treatment or engineering management. Established leadership skills in consulting, project execution, client services, and business development. Strong communication skills for building and maintaining client relationships.
Certifications
Professional engineering license preferred in the USA or ability to obtain within 2 years of employment.
