Overview
The Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering at Stanford University invites applications for a tenure-track junior-level (Assistant Professor) faculty position. We seek candidates focusing on the frontier of natural hazard and risk engineering, hazard characterization, risk assessment, and/or mitigation strategies for climate-influenced risks (e.g., flooding, drought, wildfires, landslides, storms, urban heat). While we value originality, quality, and potential impact, priority will be given to applicants whose research aligns with the departments vision of creating solutions for cities, communities, and nature to thrive. Teach courses at the graduate and undergraduate levels and supervise PhD research; build and lead a team of graduate students. Develop and sustain an independent, high-impact research program; pursue collaborations across disciplines. Foster a collaborative and inclusive academic environment for colleagues, students, and staff with diverse backgrounds and perspectives. Qualifications
Ph.D. in the engineering field in which the applicant will work (completed or anticipated completion). Evidence of the ability to pursue a program of research, a strong commitment to graduate and undergraduate teaching, and the ability to initiate and conduct interdisciplinary research. Ability to contribute to teaching at both the graduate and undergraduate levels and to lead a research group (PhD supervision). Application Materials
