Software Development Manager, Aurora PostgreSQL – Job ID: 3094759. Amazon Development Center U.S., Inc. is seeking a software engineering leader to build hyper-scale database services in the cloud and lead multiple teams responsible for designing, implementing, and owning high and low level system components to make Aurora Database highly available, scalable, reliable and fast. The role involves mentoring engineers, hiring, and translating high-level technical requirements into executable project plans. The Postgres-compatible edition of Amazon Aurora is a relational database with enterprise-class performance, availability and durability, built within AWS RDS. The team operates across multiple locations including Seattle, Toronto, Dublin and India. We are looking for experienced, passionate and curious engineering leaders who can collaborate with product teams and drive innovation while delivering reliable database services for AWS customers. Responsibilities

Lead multiple teams in designing, implementing, and owning high- and low-level system components to make Aurora Database highly available, scalable, reliable and fast. Hire, build and mentor your team; harmonize operational responsibilities with innovation. Translate high-level technical requirements into executable project plans and deliver measurable results. Collaborate with product management and other technical teams to define and communicate software product features, designs and strategy. Contribute to distributed systems, concurrency, database internals, caching, query optimization, languages, and performance engineering challenges. Help AWS continue to lead the cloud computing revolution and drive the execution of key components of the service. What is in it for you?

3+ years of engineering team management experience 7+ years of engineering experience 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi-tier web services Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and live-site operations Experience partnering with product or program management teams Preferred Qualifications

The base pay for this position ranges from $166,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
