Data Center Manager, DCC Communities

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is a fast-paced technology company and a leader in the world of data centers. The position will help ensure overall availability and reliability to meet or exceed defined service levels of data center operations. We are currently expanding our infrastructure management team and are looking for technology managers with experience in people management, strong technical understanding, and the drive and vision to take AWS Data Center Operations to the next level. The successful candidate will have experience creating/devising strategies, mentoring people at all levels, sponsoring projects, and proposing technical solutions. This position involves leading teams in hardware and network diagnostics followed by physical repair and includes participation in an on-call rotation. Key responsibilities include: Prioritize and assign trouble tickets to data center technicians and operators Routinely review ticket queue for large events and address accordingly Coordinate change management resources Guide, train, and educate data staff on the best practices related to all service owner issues Manage and deliver mid-size projects Recommend, document, and oversee policies and procedures to meet industry best practices and to meet required SLAs Manage a diverse team of data technicians with varying skills Provide weekly report to the data center manager Maintain the on-call schedule coordinating absence and vacations Recruit and train data technicians to ensure appropriate staffing levels Host weekly staff meetings Write and deliver performance reviews for staff Basic qualifications: Bachelor's degree or equivalent 2+ years of experience managing people in a technical environment 3+ years of networking experience and knowledge of cabling best practices 3+ years of experience with hardware architectures and troubleshooting experience 3+ years of experience with system management tools and client/server environments Preferred qualifications: Experience in program or project management Data Center experience Meets/exceeds Amazon’s leadership principles requirements for this role Meets/exceeds Amazon’s functional/technical depth and complexity for this role Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status.
