POSITION SUMMARY

Modern Government Solutions (MGS) is seeking a Platform Network Engineer to design, implement, and optimize advanced data center networks that support high-demand Artificial Intelligence (AI) workloads. In this role, you will configure and maintain complex Layer 2/3 architectures, including BGP, VLANs, MLAG, LAG, and Spine/Leaf topologies, while ensuring performance, stability, and scalability. The Platform Network Engineer will collaborate with cross-functional engineering and security teams, manage Trunk/Access ports, and document network standards to ensure operational excellence. This role requires hands-on expertise in troubleshooting and network performance optimization, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to stay current with emerging technologies.

RESPONSIBILITIES (not limited to):

Design, configure, and maintain complex Layer 2/3 data center networks, including BGP, VLANs, MLAG, LAG, and Spine/Leaf topologies.

Troubleshoot and optimize network performance, stability, and scalability for high-demand AI workloads.

Implement and manage Trunk/Access ports and related configurations to support diverse network environments.

Collaborate with software, platform, and security teams to translate business requirements into effective network solutions.

Document network designs, configurations, and standards to ensure knowledge sharing and operational continuity.

Provide technical support and guidance, contributing to the professional development of team members.

Research emerging technologies, stay current on networking best practices, and recommend improvements to enhance infrastructure.

Travel up to 20% for on-site installations, maintenance, and troubleshooting at customer sites or data centers.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Must possess an active Department of Defense (DoD) TS/SCI clearance with CI polygraph.

Current IAM Level II certification (e.g., Security+ CE, CAP, CASP) per DoD 8570 IAT requirements.

5+ years designing, configuring, and managing Layer 2/3 data center networks, including BGP.

5+ years configuring and troubleshooting VLANs, MLAG, and LAG.

3+ years designing and implementing Spine/Leaf network architectures.

3+ years configuring and managing Trunk/Access ports for diverse network environments.

Strong background in network performance optimization and troubleshooting for distributed or high-demand systems.

Excellent communication and collaboration skills with cross-functional technical teams.

Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail and commitment to quality.

Ability and willingness to travel up to 20% (domestic and international) for on-site support.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Relevant industry certifications (e.g., CCNP, CCIE, JNCIP, AWS Advanced Networking, CKA).

Experience supporting or integrating networking in AI/ML or high-performance computing environments.

Experience with network automation/scripting (Python, Ansible, or similar).

Familiarity with network security practices (firewalls, IDS/IPS, segmentation, RBAC).

Experience documenting and standardizing network designs and operational runbooks.

Knowledge of cloud networking (AWS, Azure, or GCP) in hybrid or multi-cloud architectures.

Demonstrated ability to stay current with emerging networking technologies and best practices.
