The American Cleaning Institute (ACI) is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Human Resources Generalist to support the Vice President, Human Resources & Operations. This role plays a key part in advancing ACI’s people-centered culture by supporting a range of HR functions that promote collaboration, growth, and operational excellence. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field. 2–4 years of progressive HR experience, ideally in a nonprofit, association, or small/mid-sized organization. Strong knowledge of HR operations, policies, benefits, and employment law. Proficiency with HRIS systems (BambooHR, Paylocity) and performance management tools (PerformYard preferred). Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to handle sensitive information confidentially. Organized, adaptable, and able to manage multiple priorities in a hybrid work environment. Major Responsibilities Employee Lifecycle & Recruitment – Manage the full employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, orientation, and offboarding. Employee Support & Relations – Serve as the first point of contact for HR policies, benefits, and employee relations, fostering a supportive and respectful workplace. HR Operations & Compliance – Administer benefits, maintain accurate HRIS records (BambooHR/Paylocity), and ensure compliance with federal and DC employment laws, including leave administration. Performance & Development – Support ACI’s performance management system (PerformYard), coordinate check-ins, and assist with training and professional development initiatives. Engagement & Culture – Assist with engagement surveys, wellness programs, and HR initiatives that strengthen collaboration and belonging.
